Enervit C2:1PRO Lactate Gel Mix – orange (130 ml)
Enervit C2:1PRO Lactate Gel Mix is a drinkable energy gel that you dissolve in a bottle of water. One 130 ml pouch provides 90 g of carbohydrates in a 2:1 glucose-to-fructose ratio, plus 10 g of sodium lactate as an extra energy source. Use it during the last one to two hours of a long, intense effort, when the pace picks up. The gel has a natural orange flavour, is gluten-free and contains no preservatives.
- 90 g carbohydrates per pouch (glucose:fructose 2:1)
- 10 g sodium lactate as a second energy source
- Dissolve in 500 to 750 ml of water
- Developed with Prof. George Brooks and Dr Iñigo San Millán
- Gluten-free and preservative-free
What is lactate and why is it in an energy gel?
Lactate was long seen as a waste product that causes acidification. Decades of research, including work by Prof. George Brooks, have revised that view: lactate is formed when your body breaks down glucose and still contains a considerable amount of energy. Fast-twitch muscle fibres produce lactate, which then travels through the blood to slow-twitch fibres, the heart and the brain, which use it as fuel. This is known as the lactate shuttle.
Enervit therefore adds lactate as an extra energy source alongside carbohydrates. Lactate is absorbed and used through a different pathway than sugars and, according to Enervit, is largely oxidised within a few minutes of ingestion. That way you combine two types of fuel in a single bottle. The lactate is supplied as sodium lactate, which also contributes an alkalising load during exercise.
Developed with Brooks and San Millán
The Lactate Gel Mix was developed in collaboration with Prof. George Brooks and Dr Iñigo San Millán, two well-known names in research on lactate metabolism. UAE Team Emirates XRG also contributed to its development and already used it during the 2026 Tour de France, before the product reached the shops.
How to use
Pour the contents of one pouch into a 500 or 750 ml bottle, top up with water and shake well. Drink the bottle gradually during the last one to two hours of your effort, for example in the finale of a road race, on a long final climb or in the last part of a triathlon. Take no more than one pouch per session and count the carbohydrates and sodium in your overall nutrition plan. You can combine it with other products from the C2:1PRO range. Once opened, keep the contents in the fridge and use within 48 hours.
Always test the Lactate Gel Mix in training before using it in a race.
Frequently asked questions
How many carbohydrates are in the Enervit Lactate Gel Mix?
One pouch contains 90 g of carbohydrates from maltodextrin, dextrose and fructose, in a 2:1 glucose-to-fructose ratio.
When should I take the Lactate Gel Mix?
During the last one to two hours of a long, intense effort, when the intensity rises. Think of the finale of a race, a decisive climb or the last part of a long event.
How many pouches can I take per day?
One per training session or race. Each pouch provides 2050 mg of sodium from the sodium lactate, so factor that in with your other electrolytes.
Should I dissolve it in 500 or 750 ml of water?
With 750 ml you get a less concentrated drink, which is often easier on the stomach in hot weather or if your gut is sensitive. With 500 ml you carry less fluid, but the drink is stronger.
Can I combine the Lactate Gel Mix with regular energy gels?
Yes, it is designed to be part of your fuelling strategy, alongside your usual gels, bars or sports drink. Do keep an eye on your total carbohydrate intake per hour and train your gut for those amounts.
Does lactate really work as fuel?
That your body uses lactate as fuel is well supported by years of research. Research on extra lactate taken in during exercise is more recent and still developing. So test in training how it works for you.
Is the Lactate Gel Mix gluten-free?
Yes. The gel is gluten-free, flavoured with natural flavourings and contains no preservatives.
