Carbohydrates are your primary fuel for prolonged moderate to high intensity exercise. After a hard training session or race, your muscles and liver are likely depleted of glycogen and a key focus during recovery is to quickly replenish both glycogen stores. In this sense, fructose is a carbohydrate source that is preferentially taken up by the liver and used to promote the restoration of liver glycogen stores, while maltodextrin can be directly absorbed into the muscle to replenish muscle glycogen stores1.

To maximize the recovery of glycogen stores, it is recommended to take 1g of carbohydrates per 1kg of body weight2, hence the inclusion of 60g of carbohydrates per serving in BETA Recovery.

The recovery process also requires that you consume enough protein to provide the amino acids that promote the repair of any muscle damage and provide the building blocks to stimulate training adaptation.
